Is Mt. Rinjani open? - Latest update on July 2019 As many of you know the Lombok earthquakes in July and August 2018 affected especially the beautiful north of our…
First of all, we would like to provide you some Mt. Rinjani trekking information. The volcano is located on the island of Lombok. It is the second highest volcano in Indonesia because it rises up to 3726 meters above sea level and thus dominates the islands landscape. Furthermore Mt. Rinjani is an active volcano with a huge crater lake Segara Anak and the new volcanic peak Gunug Baru Jari inside of it. Due to very steep and rocky trails it is a quite tough mountain for hiking and needs a good level of fitness to pass all of the treks. But as a result you get the most stunning view once you reach the crater rim and an even more special one from the top of Mt. Rinjani.
The trekking tour usually consists of hiking up to the crater rim, then hiking down to the crater lake and as a highlight climbing the summit. Hence, what you will see depends on how much days you would like to spend for the tour. At minimum 2 days are required to do the Rinjani tour for both beginners and advanced hikers. But also longer trekking packages for a more relaxed trekking adventure are possible.
The volcano can be climbed April to December whereas the best season to go is from May to August. More Mt. Rinjani trekking information you will find on the following pages:
